Therefore, maple syrup, by itself, is vegan. However, it isn’t always vegan. Sometimes, adulteration issues with the manufacturing process make maple syrup unsuitable for a vegan lifestyle. One of them is the use of animal fat, like white pig fat. In addition, many bottled maple syrups mislead people who want a vegan-friendly alternative to honey.
