#1 Spicy Makhana
Ingredients
- 3 cups Makhanas
- 1 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1 tsp Red chili powder
- to taste Salt
- 1 tsp Chaat Masala
- 1/2 tsp Black pepper
- 1 tbsp Ghee
Instructions
- Heat some ghee and roast the nuts for about 10-12 minutes over low heat. Keep stirring.
- Add all the spices. Turn off the flame.
- If necessary, add more Chaat Masala. Mix well.
- Store in an airtight container
#2 Makhana Tikki
Ingredients
- 2 cooked and mashed Medium potatoes
- 1 cup Fox nuts
- 2 Green peppers
- 2 tbsp Roasted peanuts
- handful Coriander leaves
- 1 tsp Fennel seed powder
- 1 tsp Garam Masala Powder
- 1 tsp Chaat Masala
- 2 tbsp Cooking oil
- to taste Salt
Instructions
- Dry roast foxnuts in ghee until they are crisp. Grind them coarsely.
- Put the coarsely ground Makhanas, mashed potatoes, and the rest of the ingredients in a bowl.
- Mix well. Adjust the salt and spices to your taste.
- Make round or oval patties. Shallow fry in a non-stick pan or bake in an oven, until both sides are golden brown.
- Serve with ketchup or pudina chutney.
#3 Healthy Makhana Chaat
Ingredients
- Makhanas
- 1 chopped Onion
- 1 cup Plain yogurt
- 1/2 cup Pomegranate seeds
- 1/2 tsp Black pepper powder
- handful Raisins
- 1 tsp Roasted cumin powder
- handful Coriander leaves
- 1 tsp Lemon juice
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Soak Makhanas in water for 5-10 minutes.
- Squeeze the water and put it in a bowl.
- Add all the ingredients to the bowl.
- Mix well.
- Add raisins at the end.
