−10.8 kg in 7 months
Losing 10.85 kg has given me far more than a smaller clothing size. It has given me confidence, discipline, and a deep appreciation for what my 27-year-old body can do. This journey showed me that true weight loss is a mental game won through tiny, consistent choices, day after day. I am not at the finish line; I am just beginning the maintenance and strength phase, but knowing I achieved this over seven months gives me all the faith I need to keep going. My biggest mistake in the past was aiming for perfection. This time, my mantra was consistency. I focused on small, repeatable daily habits rather than massive, unsustainable changes. I tracked my food intake most days, started walking 5,000 steps a day, and prioritized my sleep. The weight didn't fall off overnight—it was a steady, often slow, decrease of about 1.5 kg per month—but that slow speed is what made it stick. I knew if I could do it for one day, I could repeat it for 210 days. Around the fourth month, the scale refused to budge for three weeks straight. It was deeply discouraging. I almost gave up, feeling like my hard work was suddenly pointless. The trick was to not panic. Instead of cutting calories drastically, I changed my routine slightly—I tried a new type of exercise and slightly increased my daily water intake. Within a week, the scale started moving again. Navigating birthdays, weekend dinners, and holidays was tough. I didn't want to be the person who couldn't enjoy life. My trick here was pre-planning. If I knew I was going to a dinner party, I’d eat a light, protein-packed breakfast and lunch. I would allow myself to enjoy one indulgence without guilt, and then immediately get back to my routine the next day. One meal doesn't ruin seven months of effort. I realized I often confused thirst with hunger. I started carrying a large, marked water bottle everywhere. Aiming for 2-3 liters daily kept me feeling full, boosted my energy, and improved my skin. Drink water before you eat. If you still feel hungry 20 minutes later, then eat. I used to skip breakfast or eat simple carbs. Switching to a protein-focused diet was game-changing. Protein keeps you satiated for longer and helps preserve muscle mass while you lose fat. Eggs, fish, lentils, and meats became the foundation of my meals. There will be days you overeat. There will be days you skip your workout. The difference between success and failure is how you handle those days. Don't let one slip-up turn into two weeks of guilt. Acknowledge it, forgive yourself, and reset immediately. Your success is defined by what you do most of the time, not what you do some of the time.
