Wash and soak the rice and dal together for about 30 minutes.
Heat ghee in a pressure cooker.
Add the cumin seeds and black pepper and fry for a few seconds followed by the ginger green chillies and curry leaves.
Add the soaked rice and dal and fry for a few minutes.
Add the salt and 2 cups of water and bring to a boil.
Close the pressure cooker and cook for 4 whistles or until the rice and dal are cooked.
Once th epressure release, open the cooker, add coriander leaves and mix well.
Serve hot with chutney or sambar.
