Unniyappam is shallow fried in ghee in paniyaram pans until golden brown. It is commonly consumed as an evening snack along with tea.

In a bowl, mix together the rice flour, jaggery, grated coconut, cardamom powder, and baking soda.
Add the water and mix until it forms a thick batter.
Heat the oil in a pan over medium heat.
Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil and fry until golden brown.
Remove the unniyappams from the oil and drain on paper towels.
Serve warm. Enjoy!
