Heat the ghee in a pan and add the cumin seeds, mustard seeds and black pepper.
Once the seeds start to crackle, add the mashed tomatoes and cook for a few minutes.
Add the turmeric powder, red chilli powder, tamarind paste, jaggery and salt to taste.
Cook for a few minutes until the mixture thickens.
Add 2 cups of water and bring to a boil.
Simmer for 10 minutes until the rasam thickens.
Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot.
