Til Gud is a traditional sweet made during the festival of Makar Sankranti, which is celebrated in January in India. The sweet is made from sesame seeds (til) and jaggery (gud). This sweet signifies bonding, warmth, and sweet words between individuals. It’s a simple, wholesome sweet that’s rich in iron and healthy too.

Heat a pan and dry roast the sesame seeds till they become light golden.
Grate the jaggery and keep aside.
Once the sesame seeds are roasted, remove them from pan and allow it to cool.
Heat ghee in a pan, add the grated jaggery to it. Stir well till the jaggery melts and obtains a thick consistency.
Add the roasted sesame seeds and cardamom powder to this and mix well.
Turn off the flame and allow the mixture to cool slightly.
Grease your hands with ghee and make small round balls out of it.
Let them cool completely before serving.
