Suji Uttapam is a popular South Indian breakfast dish made with semolina, also known as suji or rava. It is a quick, easy, and nutritious dish which is often served with coconut chutney or sambar. rava (suji/semolina)

1 cup

curd (yogurt)

1/2 cup

Salt to taste

finely chopped vegetables (onion, capsicum, tomato, carrot, etc.)

1/2 cup

cumin seeds

1/2 teaspoon

chopped green chilli


ginger, grated

1 teaspoon

Water as needed



Step 1:

In a bowl, mix together the rava, curd, and salt. Add water as needed to make a batter of pouring consistency. Let it rest for 15 minutes.

Step 2:

Add the finely chopped vegetables, cumin seeds, green chilli and grated ginger to the batter and mix well.

Step 3:

Heat a tawa or non-stick pan and pour a ladleful of the batter onto it. Spread it lightly.

Step 4:

Drizzle a little oil around the edges and let it cook on medium flame until the bottom starts to look cooked.

Step 5:

Flip the uttapam and cook the other side.

Step 6:

Serve hot with coconut chutney or sambar.
