Soak the Sabut Masoor in water for at least 2 hours.
Heat oil in a pressure cooker.
Add cumin seeds and let them crackle.
Add the chopped onion and sauté until golden brown.
Add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a few minutes.
Add the chopped tomatoes and sauté until they are soft.
Add the coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, garam masala, amchur powder and salt.
Add the soaked Sabut Masoor and mix well.
Add 2 cups of water and stir.
Close the lid of the pressure cooker and cook for 3-4 whistles.
Once the pressure is released, open the lid and stir the dal.
Garnish with chopped green chillies and serve hot with steamed rice or roti.
