Rice Puttu is a traditional breakfast dish from Kerala, India. It is made with steamed rice flour, grated coconut, and spices. The mixture is then steamed in a special cylindrical puttu maker. The resulting dish is light, fluffy and aromatic. Rice Puttu is usually served with a side of ripe banana and papadam or spicy chickpea curry.

Soak the raw rice in water for about 2 hours.
Drain the water and grind the soaked rice into a coarse paste.
Add the grated coconut, salt and water to the paste and mix well.
Grease a steamer plate with oil and spread the mixture evenly.
Steam the mixture for about 10 minutes.
Once done, remove from the steamer and let it cool.
Serve the rice puttu with your favorite accompaniment.
