Raita for Biryani is a yogurt-based side dish made with yogurt (dahi), finely chopped vegetables, herbs and spices. It is incredibly easy to make and typically served cold. Raita not only helps to cool the palate, but also aids in digestion. It's a perfect accompaniment to spicy dishes like biryani and pulao. It is very common in Indian and Pakistani cuisine.

In a bowl, whisk the yogurt until it is smooth.
Add the finely chopped cucumber, tomato, salt, cumin powder, black pepper and mix well.
Garnish with fresh coriander.
Chill in the refrigerator for at least an hour before serving.
