Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, split black gram, split Bengal gram, cumin seeds, urad dal, chana dal and sesame seeds.
Fry until the seeds start to crackle.
Add peanuts, curry leaves, red chilli powder, turmeric powder and asafoetida.
Fry for a few seconds and then add the tamarind extract and jaggery.
Cook for a few minutes until the mixture thickens.
Add the cooked rice and mix well.
Add salt to taste and mix well.
Serve hot.
