Phulka is a type of flatbread that is staple in many parts of India and is usually served with curries, dals, and other dishes. Phulka is made by rolling out a dough ball into a thin circle and then cooking it on a hot griddle or tawa. The dough is usually made with whole wheat flour, water, and a pinch of salt. Phulka is partially cooked on a heated tawa and then puffed on direct flame.
