Parippu Vada is a popular snack from the South Indian state of Kerala. It is a deep-fried snack made from a mixture of chana dal (split Bengal gram), green chillies, ginger, curry leaves, and salt. The coarsely ground dal mixture is shaped into small round balls and then deep-fried until golden brown. Parippu Vada is usually served as an accompaniment to a meal or as a snack. It is also a popular street food in Kerala.

Soak the yellow split peas in water for at least 4 hours.
Drain the water and grind the split peas into a coarse paste.
Heat oil in a pan and add the cumin seeds, mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, turmeric powder, chilli powder and asafoetida.
Add the chopped onion, curry leaves, coriander leaves and green chillies and sauté for a few minutes.
Add the ground split peas and salt and mix well.
Take small portions of the mixture and shape into round patties.
Heat oil in a deep pan and deep fry the patties until golden brown.
Serve hot with chutney or sambar.
