Ingredients

oats

1/2 cup

moong dal (split yellow lentils)

1/4 cup

turmeric powder

1/2 teaspoon

cumin seeds

1/2 teaspoon

mustard seeds

1/2 teaspoon

green chilli (chopped)

1/2

mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, beans)

1/4 cup

ghee (clarified butter)

1 tablespoon

Salt to taste

Directions

Step 1:

Rinse the moong dal in cold water until the water runs clear.

Step 2:

In a pan, heat the ghee and add the mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and green chilli.

Step 3:

Once the seeds start to sputter, add the oats, moong dal, vegetables, turmeric powder, and salt.

Step 4:

Stir everything together and then add 2 cups of water.

Step 5:

Cover the pan and let it cook on low heat for 15-20 minutes.

Step 6:

Once the water is absorbed and the oats and dal are cooked, turn off the heat. Your Oats Khichdi is ready to be served.
