Murmura is a type of puffed grain made from rice by heating rice kernels under high pressure in the presence of steam, which causes the kernels to expand and puff up. Murmurais light and crisp and has a mild, slightly nutty flavor. It is a versatile ingredient and used make puffed rice ladoos, bhel puri or simply roasted with peanuts to make a quick snack.

Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
Add cumin seeds, mustard seeds and let them crackle.
Add peanuts and roast them for a few minutes.
Add chana dal and sesame seeds and roast them for a few minutes.
Add murmura and roast them for a few minutes.
Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, sugar and salt and mix well.
Cook for a few minutes until the murmura is crisp and golden.
Turn off the heat and add chopped coriander leaves.
Transfer the murmura chivda to a plate and let it cool down.
Serve the murmura chivda as a snack or as a side dish. Enjoy!
