Heat oil in a pan, add cumin seeds and dry red chillies, roast. Then add grated coconut, coriander seeds, poppy seeds, roast until golden brown. Make a paste by grinding all these ingredients.
In another pan, heat ghee, add chopped onion, ginger, garlic and fry till onions are golden. Add turmeric and chicken, fry until chicken is golden.
Add chopped tomatoes, cook until soft. Add the previously made paste, mix well. Add water as required to make gravy, and salt to taste.
Allow the curry to simmer until chicken is cooked properly.
Serve hot with roti or rice.
