Wash and soak the mung dal and basmati rice for 30 minutes.
Heat ghee and oil in a pressure cooker.
Add cumin seeds and mustard seeds and let them splutter.
Add ginger-garlic paste, green chillies, onion, tomatoes and sauté for a few minutes.
Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, garam masala and salt and mix well.
Add the soaked mung dal and basmati rice and mix well.
Add 2 cups of water and mix well.
Close the lid of the pressure cooker and cook for 3-4 whistles.
Once the pressure is released, open the lid and fluff the khichdi with a spoon.
Serve hot with curd or pickle.
