Wash and soak the moong dal and basmati rice for 30 minutes.
Heat ghee in a pressure cooker.
Add cumin seeds and mustard seeds and let them crackle.
Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder and garam masala and sauté for a few seconds.
Add the soaked moong dal and basmati rice and mix well.
Add 2 cups of water and salt to taste and mix well.
Close the lid of the pressure cooker and cook for 3-4 whistles.
Once the pressure is released, open the lid and fluff the khichdi with a fork.
Garnish with chopped green chillies and coriander leaves.
Serve hot with curd or pickle.
