Wash and soak the moong dal and rice for 30 minutes.
Heat ghee in a pressure cooker. Add cumin seeds and mustard seeds and let them crackle.
Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, garam masala, green chillies, ginger-garlic paste, onion and tomatoes. Saute for a few minutes.
Add the soaked moong dal and rice and mix well.
Add 2 cups of water and salt to taste.
Close the lid of the pressure cooker and cook for 3-4 whistles.
Once the pressure is released, open the lid and fluff the khichdi with a fork.
Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
