Rinse the moong dal until the water runs clear. Soak it for about 15-20 minutes.
Heat the ghee in a pressure cooker or pot, add the cumin seeds and let them sputter.
Add the finely chopped onions and minced garlic to the pot and sauté until golden brown.
Drain the soaked moong dal and add it to the pot.
Add the turmeric, salt, and enough water to cover the dal.
Pressure cook the dal for about 10-15 minutes or until it’s soft and thoroughly cooked.
Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot.
