Soak the moong daal in water for at least 30 minutes.
Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once they start to crackle, add the chopped onion and sauté until golden brown.
Add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a few seconds.
Add the chopped tomatoes and green chillies and sauté until the tomatoes are soft.
Add the turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala and amchur powder and mix well.
Add the soaked moong daal and mix well.
Add 2 cups of water and bring to a boil.
Reduce the heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes or until the daal is cooked.
Add salt to taste and mix well.
Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
