Soak the lobia in water for at least 4 hours.
Heat the oil in a pan over medium heat.
Add the cumin seeds and let them sizzle.
Add the chopped onion and sauté until golden brown.
Add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a few seconds.
Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they are soft.
Add the coriander powder, red chilli powder, turmeric powder and garam masala.
Add the soaked lobia and mix well.
Add enough water to cover the lobia and bring to a boil.
Reduce the heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes or until the lobia is cooked.
Add salt to taste and mix well.
Garnish with chopped cilantro and serve hot.
