Fry until the dal turns golden brown.
Add the grated coconut and fry for a few minutes.
Add the tamarind paste, turmeric powder and salt.
Fry for a few minutes until the mixture is well combined.
Remove from heat and let cool.
Grind the mixture to a smooth paste.
Serve with idli, dosa or other South Indian dishes.
