Wash and soak the rice and dal together for 15 minutes.
Heat the ghee in a pressure cooker.
Add the cumin and mustard seeds and let them splutter.
Add the ginger and green chillies and sauté for a few seconds.
Add the soaked rice and dal and stir for a few minutes.
Add the turmeric powder, salt and water and stir.
Close the lid of the pressure cooker and cook for 3-4 whistles.
Once the pressure is released, open the lid and fluff the khichadi with a fork.
Serve hot with yogurt or pickle.
