Ingredients

rice

2 cups

split yellow mung beans

1/2 cup

turmeric powder

1/2 teaspoon

salt

1 teaspoon

oil

2 tablespoons

water

Directions

Step 1:

Wash the rice and mung beans in a bowl of cold water.

Step 2:

Heat the oil in a large pot over medium heat.

Step 3:

Add the rice and mung beans to the pot and stir to coat with the oil.

Step 4:

Add the turmeric powder and salt and stir to combine.

Step 5:

Add the water and bring to a boil.

Step 6:

Reduce the heat to low and cover the pot.

Step 7:

Simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Step 8:

Remove from heat and let stand for 10 minutes.

Step 9:

Fluff with a fork and serve.
