In a large bowl, mix together the yogurt, gram flour, turmeric, red chilli powder, and salt.
Gradually add the water and whisk until smooth.
In a pan, heat the oil over medium heat. Add the mustard seeds, cumin seeds, green chillies, asafoetida, and curry leaves.
Once the seeds start to splutter, add the yogurt mixture.
Cook on low heat for about 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
Serve hot with steamed rice or roti.
