leftover idlis

vegetable oil

2 tablespoons

mustard seeds

1/2 teaspoon

urad dal (split and skinned black lentils)

1/2 teaspoon

chana dal (split Bengal gram)

1/2 teaspoon

asafoetida (hing)

1/2 teaspoon

green chilli, chopped

Few curry leaves

onion, chopped

Salt to taste

turmeric powder

1/2 teaspoon

Chopped cilantro for garnish

Directions

Step 1:

Crumble the idlis and set them aside.

Step 2:

Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds.

Step 3:

Once the seeds splutter, add urad dal, chana dal, asafoetida, green chilli, and curry leaves. Fry them till the dals turn golden.

Step 4:

Add the chopped onions and sauté till the onions turn translucent.

Step 5:

Add the crumbled idlis, salt, and turmeric powder. Mix well and cook for a couple of minutes.

Step 6:

Garnish with chopped cilantro.

Step 7:

Serve the idli upma hot and enjoy!
