Idli Sambhar is a popular South Indian dish that consists of steamed rice cakes (idlis) served with a flavorful lentil soup (sambhar). This dish is a staple breakfast in South India and is also enjoyed throughout the day. It’s nutritious, satisfying, and very tasty. Step 1:

Soak rice and dal separately for 4-5 hours.

Step 2:

Grind both separately to a fine paste, add salt and mix well.

Step 3:

Keep it overnight to ferment.

Step 4:

Pour the batter in the idli moulds and steam for 10-15 mins.

Step 5:

For sambhar, Cook dal with turmeric and a drop of oil in a pressure cooker and keep aside.

Step 6:

Soak tamarind in warm water and extract its juice.

Step 7:

In a pan, add oil along with mustard seeds, curry leaves and dry red chillies.

Step 8:

Add all vegetables and saute them.

Step 9:

Add Sambhar powder and tamarind pulp and bring it to boil.

Step 10:

Add boiled dal and mix well.

Step 11:

Now, your idli sambhar is ready.
