Idli Sambhar is a popular South Indian dish that consists of steamed rice cakes (idlis) served with a flavorful lentil soup (sambhar). Soak rice and dal separately for 4-5 hours.
Grind both separately to a fine paste, add salt and mix well.
Keep it overnight to ferment.
Pour the batter in the idli moulds and steam for 10-15 mins.
For sambhar, Cook dal with turmeric and a drop of oil in a pressure cooker and keep aside.
Soak tamarind in warm water and extract its juice.
In a pan, add oil along with mustard seeds, curry leaves and dry red chillies.
Add all vegetables and saute them.
Add Sambhar powder and tamarind pulp and bring it to boil.
Add boiled dal and mix well.
Now, your idli sambhar is ready.
