In a bowl, mix the custard powder and water until smooth. Set aside.
In a saucepan over medium heat, boil the milk and sugar.
Once the sugar is dissolved, gradually add the custard mixture to the milk, stirring constantly.
Cook the mixture until it becomes thick and creamy.
Remove the pan from the heat and let the mixture cool.
Once cooled, stir in the vanilla extract.
Pour the mixture into a freezer-safe container and place in the freezer.
After an hour, remove from the freezer and beat with a hand mixer to break up any ice crystals. Repeat this process two more times.
After the third mix, leave the ice cream in the freezer until completely set.
Scoop out on to bowls or cones and enjoy.
