Bread Upma is a popular South Indian dish that is usually served for breakfast or as a quick snack. It is an excellent way of using up the day-old bread and turning it into a mouthwatering dish. Chopped pieces of bread are mixed with a tangy and spicy tempering of mustard seeds, curry leaves, onions, turmeric powder, and red chili powder. This dish can be made in under 15 minutes.

Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and allow them to crackle.
Add curry leaves, chopped onions, green chillies, and sauté until onions turn transparent.
Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, and salt, mix well.
Cut the edges of the bread slices, cut into small pieces and add to the prepared mixture.
Toss the bread pieces well in the onion masala so that they are well coated.
Cover and cook for 2-3 minutes on low heat.
Turn off the heat, add a squeeze of lemon juice and garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves.
Serve the Bread Upma hot.
