Preheat a skillet over medium heat.
Spread butter on one side of each slice of bread.
Place one slice of bread, butter side down, in the skillet.
Top with cheese, deli meat, lettuce, tomatoes, salt, and pepper.
Place the other slice of bread, butter side up, on top of the sandwich.
Grill the sandwich for 3-4 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the bread is golden brown.
Flip the sandwich and grill for an additional 3-4 minutes.
Remove from the skillet and serve. Enjoy!
