Gobi Paratha



Gobi Paratha is a popular Indian flatbread dish. It is made with a dough of whole wheat flour, salt, and water, and stuffed with a mixture of spiced cauliflower. whole wheat flour

2 cups


1/2 teaspoon

ajwain (carom seeds)

1/2 teaspoon


2 tablespoons

grated cauliflower (gobi)

1/2 cup

finely chopped onion

1/4 cup

finely chopped green chillies

1/4 cup

finely chopped coriander leaves

1/4 cup

Oil for shallow frying



Step 1:

In a large bowl, mix together the flour, salt, ajwain and oil.

Step 2:

Add enough water to make a soft dough. Knead the dough for 5 minutes until it is smooth and pliable.

Step 3:

Divide the dough into 8 equal portions.

Step 4:

Take one portion of the dough and roll it into a circle of about 4-5 inches in diameter.

Step 5:

Place the grated cauliflower, onion, green chillies and coriander leaves in the center of the circle.

Step 6:

Bring the edges of the circle together and seal the stuffing inside.

Step 7:

Flatten the stuffed dough ball and roll it out into a paratha of about 6-7 inches in diameter.

Step 8:

Heat a tawa or griddle over medium heat. Place the paratha on the tawa and cook for a few seconds.

Step 9:

Flip the paratha and drizzle some oil around the edges. Cook for a few more seconds.

Step 10:

Flip the paratha again and drizzle some more oil around the edges. Cook until both sides are golden brown.

Step 11:

Serve hot with yogurt or pickle. Enjoy!
