Daliya (broken wheat)

1 cup

Moong Dal

1/2 cup

chopped vegetables (carrots, beans, peas, potatoes)

1/2 cup

cumin seeds

1/2 teaspoon

turmeric powder

1/2 teaspoon

red chilli powder

1 teaspoon

garam masala

1 teaspoon

coriander powder

1 teaspoon


1 teaspoon

garlic paste


2 tablespoons

Salt to taste


2 cups



Step 1:

Heat oil in a pressure cooker.

Step 2:

Add cumin seeds and let them crackle.

Step 3:

Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a few seconds.

Step 4:

Add chopped vegetables and sauté for a few minutes.

Step 5:

Add Daliya, Moong Dal, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, garam masala, coriander powder and salt.

Step 6:

Mix everything together and sauté for a few minutes.

Step 7:

Add 2 cups of water and mix everything together.

Step 8:

Close the lid of the pressure cooker and cook for 2-3 whistles.

Step 9:

Once the pressure is released, open the lid and mix everything together.

Step 10:

Serve hot with curd or pickle.
