Dal Makhni is a popular North Indian dish made with whole black lentils, butter, and cream. The amount of fats from butter and cream make this dish very rich and creamy. It is often served with rice, tandoori roti or naan. Traditionally, the lentils along with spices are cooked slowly over a low flame for several hours, allowing the flavors to blend together.
