Wash and soak the lentils and rice in water for 15 minutes.
Heat the ghee and oil in a pressure cooker.
Add the cumin and mustard seeds and let them crackle.
Add the asafoetida, ginger-garlic paste, green chillies, onion and tomato and sauté for a few minutes.
Add the turmeric powder, red chilli powder, garam masala and coriander powder and sauté for a few more minutes.
Add the soaked lentils and rice and mix well.
Add the water and salt and mix well.
Close the lid of the pressure cooker and cook for 3-4 whistles.
Once the pressure is released, open the lid and fluff the dal khichdi with a fork.
Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
