long grain white rice

cumin seeds

1 teaspoon

turmeric powder

1 teaspoon

red chili powder

1 teaspoon

garam masala

1 teaspoon

Step 1:

Rinse the lentils and rice in a bowl of cold water until the water runs clear.

Step 2:

Heat the ghee in a large pot over medium heat.

Step 3:

Add the cumin seeds and fry for a few seconds until they start to sizzle.

Step 4:

Add the lentils and rice and stir to combine.

Step 5:

Add the turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, coriander powder, and salt. Stir to combine.

Step 6:

Add the water and bring to a boil.

Step 7:

Reduce the heat to low and cover the pot. Simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the lentils and rice are cooked through.

Step 8:

Serve hot with your favorite accompaniments. Enjoy!
