Ingredients

fresh curry leaves

1 cup

green chillies

urad dal (white lentils)

1 tablespoon

chana dal (split chickpeas)

1 tablespoon

tamarind

1 small piece

mustard seeds

1/2 teaspoon

dried red chillies

asafoetida (hing)

1/2 teaspoon

oil

1 teaspoon

Salt to taste

Directions

Step 1:

Heat oil in a pan and add urad dal, chana dal, green chillies, and curry leaves. Saute until the dals turn golden brown.

Step 2:

Allow the mixture to cool down and then transfer it to a grinder. Add tamarind, salt and little water. Grind it to a smooth paste.

Step 3:

In the same pan, add some oil and add mustard seeds, dried red chillies and asafoetida. Once the mustard seeds splutter, add this tempering to the chutney.

Step 4:

Curry Leaves Chutney is ready to be served with idli, dosa or rice.
