Ingredients

large onions (thinly sliced)

2

besan (gram flour)

1 cup

rice flour

2 tablespoons

red chilli powder

1 teaspoon

turmeric powder

1/4 teaspoon

ajwain (carom seeds)

1/2 teaspoon

Salt to taste.

Oil for deep frying

Directions

Step 1:

In a large bowl, combine the onions, besan, rice flour, chilli powder, turmeric powder, ajwain, and salt.

Step 2:

Use your hands to mix the ingredients well. Make sure each onion slice is coated with the flour mixture. Do not add water.

Step 3:

Heat oil in a deep frying pan. Once the oil is hot, drop small portions of the onion and flour mixture into the oil.

Step 4:

Fry the pakodas on medium heat until they turn golden brown and crispy.

Step 5:

Remove the pakodas with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels

Step 6:

Repeat with the remaining onion and flour mixture.

Step 7:

Serve the onion pakodas warm with ketchup or chutney.
