Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat.
Add cumin seeds and let them sizzle.
Add chopped onion and sauté until golden brown.
Add garlic and ginger and sauté for a few minutes.
Add chopped tomatoes and cook until soft.
Add all the spices and mix well.
Add soaked chickpeas and mix everything together.
Add 2 cups of water and bring to a boil.
Reduce heat to low and simmer for 20-25 minutes or until the chickpeas are cooked through.
Add salt to taste and mix.
Garnish with chopped cilantro and serve hot.
