Chicken Kolhapuri is a popular Indian dish from the city of Kolhapur in Maharashtra. The dish is known for its vibrant red color and spicy flavor. chicken (cut into pieces)



2 tablespoons

turmeric powder

1 teaspoon

red chili powder

2 tablespoons


1 tablespoon

garlic paste

large onions (finely chopped)


tomatoes (pureed)


Kolhapuri masala

2 tablespoons


4 tablespoons

Salt as per taste



Step 1:

Marinate the chicken with yogurt, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and ginger-garlic paste. Let it rest for 20-30 minutes.

Step 2:

In a pan, heat the oil and add onions. Sauté until it turns golden brown.

Step 3:

Add the marinated chicken to the pan and cook until it gets half cooked.

Step 4:

Add the pureed tomatoes and Kolhapuri masala to the pan and mix well. Cover it and cook on low heat for 10-15 minutes until the chicken is fully cooked and the spices are well blended.

Step 5:

Serve hot with rice or any Indian bread.
