In a bowl, combine the eggs, milk, salt, and pepper. Whisk until everything is well combined.
Melt the butter in a pan over medium heat. Pour in the egg mixture.
As the omelet starts to cook, but still has a little raw egg on top, place the bread slices onto the omelet, with the slices touching each other.
Once the omelet is cooked, flip it over and fold it in a way that the bread slices end up on the outer side.
Sprinkle cheese on one side if using, and fold the omelet into half, pressing the bread slices together.
Cook for a couple of minutes until the cheese is melted.
Serve hot with tomato slices and lettuce leaves.
