Ingredients

red lentils

water

onion, finely chopped

garlic, minced

2 cloves

ginger, minced

1 tablespoon

turmeric powder

1 teaspoon

cumin seeds

1 teaspoon

red chili powder

1 teaspoon

Salt to taste

vegetable oil

2 tablespoons

fresh coriander, chopped

Directions

Step 1:

Rinse the red lentils until the water runs clear.

Step 2:

In a pot, add the lentils and water. Boil it on medium heat until lentils become tender.

Step 3:

In a pan, heat the vegetable oil. Add the cumin seeds until it starts sizzle. Then add the onions and sauté until it turns golden brown.

Step 4:

Add the garlic and ginger to the pan and sauté for another minute.

Step 5:

Add the turmeric powder, red chili powder and salt to the pan and stir it well.

Step 6:

Add the cooked lentils to the pan and stir everything well. Let it simmer for a few minutes.

Step 7:

Garnish the dal with fresh coriander and serve it hot.
