Can Foods Cause Kidney Stones?

By  Dr.Poonam Sharma

There are various foods that lead to or worsen kidney stones. We’ve prepared a list for you to be mindful of what you consume, which will help you ease the condition.

High Oxalate Foods

Oxalates are a great contributor to kidney stones. So it's best to have oxalate rich foods in moderation. Some oxalate rich items are spinach, almond and cashews, beets, cocoa powder etc.

Sodium Rich Foods

A high-sodium diet can trigger kidney stones because it increases the amount of calcium in your urine.

Foods that cause the urine to turn more alkaline

Acidic urine increases your risk of developing uric acid kidney stones. Reduce the intake of foods that make the urine more alkaline.
