I was a chubby child throughout my life. As a medical student, sedentary study habits and minimal physical activity made things worse. I was apprehensive about stepping on the scale. When I started my fitness journey and adopted a clean eating regimen, I avoided weighing myself for 2 months. When I finally checked, I was 80 kg. That moment sparked a new determination, driven by the desire to achieve a healthy BMI.
Today, I have transformed my physique, shedding 20 kg to reach a healthy 60 kg with a normal BMI. My journey shows the power of perseverance - nothing is insurmountable, and every step forward is a victory.
What worked for me:
- Maintain a calorie deficit with protein-rich and fibre-dense foods.
- Mix cardio, like 10k steps, with strength training, even if it is low-intensity.
- If you are struggling, start with a manageable goal: walk 6k steps and prioritise clean eating.
Weight loss is achievable; sustaining it is where the real challenge lies. But that is the essence of this transformative journey. If I can do it, anyone can.
